Homosaurus

Order: disputed ยท Status: thriving

Science has questions. Homosaurus has plans.

Nobody has established what he is, where he came from, or how he keeps getting into these places. He has declined to participate in finding out.

A large pink dinosaur with a rainbow crest and an open blue shirt strutting through a bright carnival, arms raised and one leg kicked high.
Specimen observed mid-strut. No permit produced.

The questions

Four things researchers still cannot agree on

Every answer below has been contested, revised, or abandoned. He has read none of them.

Question one

What is he, taxonomically?

Classification remains open. Three separate committees have been formed. Two have resigned.

Question two

Where, precisely, did he come from?

Accounts conflict. When pressed on the matter, he has said only "around," and changed the subject to brunch.

Question three

How old is he?

Estimates span several geological eras. He considers the question rude and the range flattering.

Question four

Should the public be concerned?

Only near a buffet, an open bar, or a dance floor with adequate lighting.

A natural history style specimen plate of the pink dinosaur posed formally against a cream background, rainbow crest and open blue shirt clearly visible.

The specimen

What we have managed to document

Crest
Rainbow. Orderly. Not up for discussion.
Belly
Load-bearing. Described by one observer as "committed."
Shirt
Blue. Open. Never once explained.
Tail
Enters the room several seconds before he does.

Merchandising phase: pending

House of Homosaurus

A shirt has been approved. A sticker sheet has been approved. A date has not been approved, because he keeps changing it. Nothing here is for sale yet, and nothing is pretending to be.

Be told before the rest of science

New sightings, new accounts, and word the moment the shop opens. No more than you would want, which is not much.
