Homosaurus is a fictional character. Any resemblance to an actual dinosaur is coincidental and, frankly, flattering to the dinosaur.

The part where we explain ourselves
Homosaurus started as a joke. Somebody made it, it got a laugh, and then, unhelpfully, it kept going. He turned up in one picture, then another, then in situations nobody had planned for him. Eventually there were enough of them that building a website seemed easier than continuing to explain.
That is the entire origin. There is not a deeper one. We have resisted inventing a better story on the grounds that this one has the advantage of being true.
What he actually is has never been settled, and we intend to keep it that way. The joke stops working the moment somebody answers it. So the site treats him as an open question: field notes that contradict each other, eyewitnesses who disagree, and a classification nobody is willing to sign.
Past that, he is mostly just having a better time than everyone around him. That appears to be the part people like.

Every image on this site was made with AI tools and then reviewed by a person before it went up. A good number do not make it. We would rather tell you that here than have you work it out later.

The shop exists as an idea and a set of empty shelves. When that changes we will say so directly, rather than surprising anyone with a checkout.
Some pictures have real faces in them
A few of the sightings feature people rather than pure invention. Nobody is named anywhere on this site, and that is deliberate.
